Bokashi is composed of several symbiotic microorganisms - Lactic Acid Bacteria, Yeasts, and Photosynthetic Bacteria- that have been shown to increase water holding capacity, improve soil structure, mobilize nutrients, improve the photosynthetic capacity of plants, and suppress soil borne diseases. Bokashi is also very effective as a catalyst for compost piles, dramatically speeding up the decomposition of manures and organic waste.

Bokashi contains 1 million cfu per gm of each of the following microorganisms:

Lactobacillus plantarum,

Lactobacillus casei,

Lactobacillus fermentum,

Lactobacillus delbrueckii,

Bacillus subtilis,

Saccharomyces cerevisiae,

Rhodopseudomonas palustris.
